In her first pageant, at the advice by another fellow UGA students, Mohr won the Miss Columbus 1985 title. She was then eligible to enter into the Miss Georgia pageant in June 1985. Mohr was the winner of Saturday's competition, June 22 1985. Over $3500 was given Mohr's scholarship funds along with other awards. As Miss Georgia she was involved in events across Georgia. Georgia. Mohr was Georgia's representative at the Miss America 1986 pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey at the end of September in 1985. Computer-generated models successfully predicated that Susan Akin would be named Miss America, Mohr's odds were set at 22 to 1. Mohr wasn't a top 10 finalist to win the national crown. Mohr's tenure in the role of Miss Georgia lasted until she named her successor, Marlesa Ball, Miss Georgia 1986 on June 28, 1986.
